IEE Wiring Regulations state that terminals on junction boxes should not be subject to undue stress e.g. taking weight of cables or fittings. A large amount of Junction Boxes are installed behind downlighters or decorative light fittings. This ultimatley means that moving the Junction Box into position after wiring could cause stress on the terminations. There is three main benefits of the Ashley J501 Junction Box which makes connecting fixed wiring to flexible cables of downlighter fittings quick and easy. It is easy to use, compliant with the latest regulations and suitable for wide applications. The lid fits nicely in the hand during termination and cabling. It also wraps around on a hinge to snap shut prior to installation. The clamps then secure cables in place and a three-plate terminal style is logical and very easy to follow. The J501 also has rear holes for fixing to the wall if required. It is important to point out that the terminals are on one side - this maximises cabling space. Cable clamps can also be reversed for single or double cable entry.
